Annual Southampton Fire Department Muster Celebrates Community and Competition

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — On September 14, 2024, the Southampton Fire Department hosted its annual muster, drawing participation from over a dozen fire departments for a day of friendly competition and community celebration.


The day began with a parade of antique fire trucks that captivated onlookers. Families lined the streets, cheering as the vintage engines passed, showcasing the rich history of firefighting in the region. The impressive lineup included trucks from various departments, each telling its own story.


After the parade, firefighters and junior members engaged in a series of competitive events, including Efficiency, Midnight Alarm, and Buckets. Departments also demonstrated their water drafting and pumping skills using some of the antique trucks on hand.


Results from the day's events included:


Efficiency Competition: The Stumblers took first place, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and speed in their tasks.


Midnight Alarm: The Smithtown team of Juniors excelled, showcasing their strategic skills under pressure in the juniors division.


Throughout the day, the camaraderie among departments was evident. The event not only highlighted the skills of firefighters but also reinforced the strong bonds within the community.


The Southampton Fire Department’s muster was a resounding success, reminding everyone of the dedication and bravery that define firefighting, past and present.
