The fifth and last call of the busy day for the Limerick Fire Dept was at 3:33 pm when the department was dispatched for a vehicle accident involving three vehicles on Swamp Pike. Deputy 51 responded and arrived a few minutes later, upgrading the call to a vehicle rescue after the driver of one of the vehicles could not get out. Rescue 51, Ladder 51, Squad 51, Rescue 37, Fire Police from 51 and 37, Freedom Valley EMS, and Limerick Police responded to the scene. Crews were able to extricate the driver about twenty minutes after the initial dispatch. Fire Police blocked off Swamp Pike between Smith Rd and Fruitville Rd. Crews assisted with patient care, cleared debris and oil from the road, and waited for the tow trucks to remove the vehicles. All were made available approximately an hour and thirty minutes later.
