Around 3:30pm Thursday September 12th The Hanover Township structure fire box was dispatched to a waste management facility for a reported commerical strucuture fire with multiple calls on it. When Hanover Township fire got on the road there was a black header showing in the air. When units arrived they confirmed there was a large pile of trash and some of the building was on fire. There was no fire hydrants nearby and had to call in the Luzerne County Tanker Task Force to setup a fill site and have Plymouth engine 1 draft to units flowing water. While units waited for the tankers to arrive all units used their tank water to get a knock on the fire the best they could and once 2 water ponds were setup and filled with water Plymouth engine started drafting water to the Hanover Township engine and ladder along with Nanticoke ladder. While attacking the flames from the ladder trucks a blitzfire attack line was setup along with a rip and run line to hit the fire in areas the ladder trucks couldn't reach. Fire fighters battled the blaze for 4 hours and once the fire was mostly knocked down they sent a bulldozer in to rip the trash apart to better soak hot spots and prevent the chance of a rekindle. Nobody was hurt at the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The fire damaged the exterior and interior of the building and the business is said to be closed temporarily while they investigate the cause and make repairs to the building.
