DETROIT - Central Office dispatched a box alarm to the area of Field & St. Paul for reported fire in a vacant dwelling. First arriving companies found a 2 1/2 story vacant dwelling fully involved. The intense fire quickly extended to nearby brush and destroyed a garage in the rear of the property.
The wood frame structure threw large brands high into the sky dropping all over the largely occupied neighborhood luckily not starting any more fires nearby. Firefighters quickly used booster lines to wet down the area and keep any small fires in check. Ladder 6 set up their tower ladder and started to darken down the heavy fire with both guns operating. Although, by this time the building remained nothing more than a burned out frame.
