DETROIT - Central Office dispatched Ladder 23 to the area of Promenade and Annsbury to check for fire during the early morning hours. Ladder 23 found two vacant dwellings going and requested a box alarm. The original fire building had seen its share of fire before and quickly extended to the large brick dwelling on the B side.
With several fires going in the area, the third engine requested for RIT was Engine 27 from the southwest part of the city. Companies took up a defensive posture with Ladder 23's water tower and several hand lines to protect nearby utility lines. The original fire building finally collapsed and the roof of the exposure building also collapsed in.
