Ridgefield Park Apartment building fire

On September 5th, 2026 at 4:20am, the Ridgefield Park Fire Department was dispatched to 82 Brinkerhoff St for a reported fire. At 4:24, Car 1 Chief of Dept Lynn arrived on scene and reported fire showing and transmitted the 2nd
alarm . Due to smoke filling the common hallway and stairwell, as well as multiple occupants needing to be removed from fire escapes, a 3rd alarm was subsequently transmitted.
Ridgefield Park companies Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, and Truck 2 initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while conducting primary searches of the structure. Mutual aid companies arrived on scene and began assisting with assignments. Ridgefield Park and mutual aid fire companies operating on the scene, with the assistance of the Ridgefield Park Police Department, removed multiple residents from interior apartments and from the fire escapes.
Companies stretched three (3) handlines into the building and extinguished fire on multiple levels of the apartment building. Companies conducted overhaul and secured utilities to ensure there was no fire extension. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid from Bogota, Englewood, Hackensack, Little Ferry and Teaneck assisted on the scene.
There were two (2) injuries reported by civilians and they were transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
