EAST SENECA, NY — August 3 — Seneca Hose Company #1 responded to a second alarm call at East Seneca shortly after noon for a fire involving a large HVAC unit located on the roof of a manufacturing building.

Seneca Hose Ladder 6 arrived at the scene and joined the firefighting crews working on the roof-level fire.

Firefighters discovered the fire within the large HVAC unit and worked to locate and put out any remaining hot spots during the overhaul process.

Ladder 6’s aerial master stream was deployed to apply water to parts of the fire that were difficult to reach from the ground.

This aerial operation helped support the crews during both fire suppression and overhaul activities.

The incident highlighted the importance of truck-company operations at commercial fires, especially when roof-mounted mechanical equipment creates challenges in access and can lead to hidden fire conditions.

Aerial apparatus allows firefighters to gain elevated access and also gives incident commanders additional options for applying water from a safer exterior location.

Seneca Hose Company #1 is based at 2801 Seneca Street in West Seneca and operates within West Seneca Fire District #5.

The Town of West Seneca designated East Seneca as Fire District #4 and Seneca Hose as District #5, with both districts relying on mutual aid during high-demand incidents.
