Attleboro, MA - The Attleboro Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire near Haggerty Highway and Willard Road, where crews arrived to find a rapidly spreading vegetation fire moving through dry brush in an open area.

Due to the nature of the terrain and limited access points, firefighters were immediately met with challenging operating conditions. The absence of a nearby water source required additional resources to be dispatched to support suppression efforts and establish effective containment lines around the advancing fire.

On August 30 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, crews worked in coordinated fashion for approximately two hours, using handlines and perimeter control tactics to gradually stop the forward progress of the fire and prevent it from reaching surrounding exposures or additional vegetation.

Once containment was achieved, firefighters conducted extensive mop-up operations to eliminate remaining hot spots and ensure the fire would not rekindle. The blaze was ultimately limited to an estimated two acres, with no structural involvement reported.

Officials noted that brush fires in similar conditions can escalate rapidly due to wind, dry fuel, and restricted access, requiring strong coordination and sustained manpower to bring under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
