Vehicle Strikes Pole and Driver Goes On the Run

Mastic Beach, N.Y.- On the Afternoon of July 8th at about 12:59 PM the Suffolk County Police 7th PCT was dispatched along with Mastic Beach FD and EMS for a vehicle crash at Mastic Beach RD & Alder Dr. Per Fire-Com dispatchers the additional details given to Commissioner Bill Biondi was that it was a vehicle that had struck a pole.
On arrival Mastic Beach FD Commissioner Biondi Advised that he had a single vehicle MVA into a pole and that any units responding can come in on a Signal 4 (under control) without sirens. Mastic Beach Ambulance and Fire officials spoke with PD. It was determined the driver and if there were any other occupants, they had all fled the scene. Rescue truck 5-13-4 arrived on scene and was dismissed as there was nothing for them to do. All FD and EMS were back in service within 20 minutes with the scene turned over to Suffolk Police.
