ELSMERE, NY - A late night call came in for a reported rollover with possible entrapment on Delaware Avenue in Elsmere in mid-August.

The Elsmere Fire Department, Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, Albany County Paramedics and Bethlehem Police were called to the area of 184 Delaware Ave. for a possible rollover around 3 a.m. on Thursday, August 15th.

With the update of possible entrapment, Slingerlands Fire was dispatched for their rescue truck to the scene. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle on its roof with the driver still inside.

Slingerlands FD was canceled prior to their arrival, as EMS crews and Elsmere firefighters were able to extricate the patient.

Bethlehem Police stated the car was headed westbound on Delaware Avenue when it left the roadway off the right shoulder, striking a guide wire and damaging a pole. Police did not state what may have caused the car to exit the roadway. The collision with the guide fire and pole caused the car to flip, according to police.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was transported to the hospital for evaluation, police said. Police say no charges or tickets were issued to the driver. The roadway remained alternating traffic lanes while crews operated on scene.
