EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - East Rutherford Fire Department was sent to 10 Oak St. around 6:30 P.M. on August 26th, on a report of a balcony on fire. 10 Oak St. is a fairly new three-story apartment complex, and by code had to have sprinklers installed on the balcony. Fire units arriving noticed the fire was being contained by the sprinkler system and was out. A crew went into the apartment to check for any extension and to check the balcony. The alarm was a general alarm with just a FAST team from Wallington. Fire official Barnas was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which he determined to be from careless smoking.
