BLOOMSBURY, NJ — August 7, 2026 — After a wire and utility-pole fire was reported near State Highway 173 and Brunswick Avenue in Bloomsbury on Friday, utility crews and emergency service personnel collaborated.

The fire department responding to the event was Bloomsbury Hose Co. No. 1. According to the Bloomsbury Hose Co. No. 1 account, employees from the Perryville station of the New Jersey State Police, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, JCP&L, Brightspeed, the Bloomsbury Department of Public Works, and Gabriella Truck Sales & Service joined the firefighters.

While the impacted area was made safe, coordination between fire, law enforcement, transportation, utility, and public works workers was necessary.

During the response, crews encountered an additional hazard when a tractor-trailer became caught in a low-hanging wire that was not part of the original call.

State Highway 173 runs through the Bloomsbury area, and NJSP's Perryville station provides state-police coverage for Bloomsbury.

Bloomsbury Hose Co. No. 1 is the borough's volunteer fire company and operates from its station at 91 Brunswick Avenue. New Jersey Division of Fire Safety records list the company as a volunteer department serving Bloomsbury.
