RIDGE, NY - On the evening of August 13th at approximately 9:30 P.M., the Ridge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at #2C Independence Ct. The first arriving chief found an active fire in an apartment complex and a working fire was transmitted. Mutual aid was requested to the scene and for stand by coverage.
Luckily all occupants of the building were able to get out prior to arrival of the fire department. First arriving crews quickly stretched lines and went to work putting water on the fire. The truck company went to work venting once it was safe to do so. Mutual aid was provided by Middle Island, Yaphank, Brookhaven National Lab (BNL), Rocky Point and Shirley Community Ambulance.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office. Also on scene were members of Suffolk County OEM.
