EDINBURGH, NY - Edinburgh was alerted to reports of a structure fire on South Shore Road, July 17th. This would have been considered a "normal" fire if a tornado hadn't ravaged the area the day prior. South Shore Road was completely impassable due to downed power lines and trees. Quaker Springs Fire Boat was deployed for Fire and EMS protection via the lake. This would prove a vital resource when the call for heavy black smoke was reported. Once the fire was located, crews utilized the pump onboard the fire boat to extinguish the fire. Approximately 600’ of supply line was used from the lake to the fire. Crews operated on scene for approximately 4 hours. Multiple mutual aid agencies were called for assistance.
