Car vs. Building in Greenfield

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

GREENFIELD, NY - At 8:55 P.M. on August 18th, Greenfield Zone 29 was dispatched to a MVA, car into a building. Upon arrival of Car 29-0, it was confirmed that one vehicle had crashed into the building, with an active natural gas leak. A re-tone of the fire district was requested for all available manpower, as crews needed to search the building for any trapped residents, as well as clear the initial evacuation zone until LEL levels were deemed safe. Members quickly worked to ensure there were no trapped residents and to secure the natural gas. Once this was completed, ventilation operations were conducted. Ballston Spa Fire was requested to assist with an additional methane laser detection device to ensure all gas was expelled from the building. The greenfield building inspector was called due to the structural damage.
