Dumont, NJ - The Dumont Volunteer Fire Department responded on a mutual aid assignment to Demarest for a reported second-alarm residential structure fire. Rescue 3, along with command staff, responded to the scene and was immediately put to work upon arrival.
Crews assisted in stretching the initial hose line into the structure and were assigned to conduct a primary search. Firefighters encountered intense fire conditions extending throughout the second floor and attic space, requiring coordinated interior operations.
As the fire escalated, additional alarms were transmitted, bringing multiple companies to assist with suppression efforts. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
