Henrico Fire Investigating Following a Fire and a Fatality on Battery Drive
HENRICO COUNTY, VA. — The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating following an early morning fire and fatality in the area of Laburnum Avenue and Mechanicsville Turnpike.
Henrico Fire was dispatched at 5:53 a.m. for a reported shed fire in the 1900 block of S. Battery Drive. Responding units arrived on scene at 5:56 to find a detached structure fully involved in fire. The fire was knocked down at 6:10.
A female in her 50s was found deceased in the area proximate to the fire. Henrico County Division of Fire extends its condolences to the family of the deceased.
Henrico Fire is grateful to Henrico Police for its support during this ongoing investigation. The incident is currently a joint investigation between the Henrico Fire Marshal’s Office and Henrico Police. These investigations are standard when there is a fatality and a fire.
The cause of the blaze and the cause of death aren’t yet known. An official ruling on both will be made when the investigation concludes.
