MASTIC BEACH, NY - On Sunday, June 23rd at about 2:40 P.M., the Mastic Beach Fire Department was called to a home on Johns Neck Rd. for a report of a house fire. The Mastic Fire Department was also alerted for an auto mutual aid engine, and Mastic Beach Ambulance was called to stand by at the scene as well. On arrival, Chief Luis Grego had smoke showing and determined the cause was from a dryer on fire. Tanker 5-13-2 and and engine 5-13-3 responded to the scene. Chief Grego advised dispatchers at Suffolk Fire-com that they could release mutual aid with his thanks. Firefighters from Mastic Beach removed the dryer from the home and used a can to ensure the fire was extinguished fully. While doing this, other firefighters brought fans into the home to vent the smoke. No injuries were reported, but Mastic Beach Ambulance responder 5-39-80 and Ambulance 5-39-20 were on scene for the duration of the incident. All units were released from the scene in under 40 minutes.
