Westerly, R.I. — Aug. 3 — The Westerly Fire Department, located at 7 Union Street, responded to an overturned vessel on the Pawcatuck River. Before it drifted and became stuck next to the structure, firefighters found an empty 12-foot boat close to River Bar and the downtown bridge. To liberate the ship and tow it to the Main Street boat ramp, Marine 30 collaborated with Marine 2 of the Pawcatuck Fire Department and firefighters utilizing an NRS rescue raft.

The Westerly Ambulance Corps provided assistance, and the Westerly Police Department seized the watercraft. The location was securely evacuated by all responding units.
