Gales Ferry, CT. — July 6 — The Ledyard Fire Company and the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, located at 1772 Route 12, responded to a reported generator fire on South Glenwoods Road. When firemen arrived, they saw that the fire had spread from the generator to the connected garage and asked for a working fire assignment. After deploying multiple handlines, the crew searched the house and verified that no one was inside.

The fire was limited to the attic and garage, preventing it from spreading deeper inside the house. There were no reported injuries. While local stations and mutual aid agencies provided assistance at the scene, the Ledyard Fire Marshal's Office looked into the cause.
