BELLEVILLE, NY - At 9:29 A.M. July 27th, Belleville Fire Department was dispatched to 8169 County Route 75 in the Town of Ellisburg for a working structure fire. Ellisburg and Adams and Fire Departments were dispatched as Automatic Mutual Aid. The actual address was a short distance away at 7677 NYS Route 289 in Belleville, NY. Smithville Fire was also requested to the scene.

Crews found a small fire on the second-floor with slight extension into the attic. The fire was quickly extinguished with minor damage on the second-floor and the attic. Power to the residence was disconnected at the meter by National Grid. Fire investigators responded and the cause was undetermined. Only one window on the second-floor was damaged during the first fire, all other windows were intact when the fire departments left the scene..

At 11:23 P.M. that evening, Belleville Fire was alerted to the same address with Elisburg and Adams as Automatic Mutual Aid for a working structure fire with smoke and flames showing. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved structure with flames out of multiple windows on all sides. Smithville Fire Department was requested for a tanker to the scene and to set up a tanker fill site at the Belleville Fire Station. A second-alarm was also requested for additional tankers, bringing Mannsville-Manor and Henderson Fire to the scene. The fire was again knocked down, and as crews moved through the building for overhaul, they discovered that several windows including the large bow window on the front of the building appeared to have been removed.

Belleville Fire and the New York State Police secured the scene until daylight with all other departments back in service by 4:30 A.M. The Jefferson County Office of Fire and Emergency Management, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and the New York State Police are handling the investigation.
