SALISBURY, N.H. — Firefighters from Salisbury and nine neighboring communities battled a second-alarm house fire at 535 Old Turnpike Road on July 26, 2026, leaving the residence uninhabitable.

Salisbury Fire & Rescue and automatic mutual-aid companies were dispatched at 5:39 a.m. and arrived to find the home already well involved in fire. Heavy flames on the left side of the house had burned through the roof, indicating the fire had likely been burning for some time, according to Salisbury Deputy Fire Chief Joshua Nixon.

Conditions had deteriorated to the point that firefighters were unable to safely enter the home. With portions of the floor already burned through and the structure compromised, crews conducted an exterior attack using handlines. A second alarm was requested, bringing additional personnel and tankers to the scene to support water-shuttle operations.

Firefighters from Andover, Boscawen, Concord, Franklin, Hopkinton, Penacook, Warner, Webster and Wilmot assisted Salisbury crews during the operation.

The homeowner was not at the residence when the fire started but arrived while firefighters were working at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by approximately 9:30 a.m. Portions of the floor and roof collapsed during the fire, while the remaining sections of the home sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage.

The single-family home, which was built in 2021 and had recently been listed for sale, was left uninhabitable as a result of the fire.

The cause remained under investigation following the incident.
