Stony Brook Firefighters Assist at Setauket House Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At around 4:16 a.m. on July 2, the Stony Brook Fire Department responded on mutual assistance to help the Setauket Fire Department with a reported residential structure fire.

Engine 4, which was one of the first units to arrive under Chief 31's command, came upon smoke on the second story. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to find hidden heat behind a bathroom wall. They then opened the wall, removed a vanity, and put out the hidden fire before it could spread. Additionally, crews helped secure the home's electrical and gas utilities.

By around 5:22 a.m., every Stony Brook unit was back in operation.
