Firefighters battled a fire that heavily damaged a three-story residential building at 743 Hicks Street in Fall River, Massachusetts, on July 26, 2026.

Fall River Fire Department crews were dispatched shortly after 1 p.m., with Engines 2, 4 and 5, Ladders 2 and 4, Heavy Rescue 1 and Command Car 3 responding. Engine 5 reported heavy smoke while approaching the scene.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire involving the second and third floors. An additional engine company was requested as firefighters began suppression operations. While hose lines were being stretched, a portion of the third-floor porch roof collapsed onto the second-floor porch.

All residents had evacuated the building, and no civilian injuries were reported. Two firefighters were evaluated for heat stress and overexertion and were cleared by medical personnel. More than a dozen residents were displaced. The fire caused significant damage to the second and third floors and attic, and the cause remained under investigation.
