CENTER MORICHES, NY - On June 26th at around 7:20 p.m., the Center Moriches Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Montauk Highway and Neville Street. When firefighters arrived, they found one car with severe damage to the driver's side up against a power pole. The driver's door was removed and the occupant was successfully extricated by crews using hydraulic rescue tools. The occupants of the second vehicle were unharmed, but the driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While emergency personnel worked at the incident, Montauk Highway was closed for around 30 minutes.
