Hoarder house damaged by fire in Swoyersville,PA

Around 1:30pm Sunday July 21st the Swoyersville structure fire box was dispatched for a reported home on fire. Swoyersville 279 fire chief arrived on scene and had smoke showing from the home. When Swoyersville 379 engine arrived 2 lines were pulled and Kingston fire laid in and feed water into the Swoyersville engine. Interior crews faced a major hoarding problem inside the home. The fire started in the basement and worked its way up to the first floor. Crews had to remove junk that was blocking the walls on the first floor to open up the walls inside and outside to get a better knock on the fire. Crews worked for 3 hours to get through all the junk in the house to find the fire and open up the walls to fully extinguish the stubborn fire. The fire marshal and code enforcemnt are working together to find the cause of the fire and condemned the property due to its poor conditions.
