West Durham, ME — July 7 — In hot and dry conditions, a smoldering fire pit expanded into neighboring bush, prompting Durham Fire & Rescue to react to an outdoor fire. As firemen swiftly confined the fire and stopped it from spreading to surrounding plants or structures, the Lisbon Fire Department provided assistance under the mutual aid system. There were no reported injuries.

Residents were warned by fire officials to completely put out any outdoor flames before leaving them unattended, particularly during times of high fire danger and little rainfall.
