AUBURN, MA - Around 1:00 P.M. on the afternoon of Sunday, June 25th, the Auburn Fire Department was alerted to a report of a camper on fire on Interstate-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) on the eastbound side. Auburn Engine-2 and the ambulance arrived and found a well-involved mobile home in the breakdown lane.
The occupant of the vehicle was out upon the fire department's arrival, and was uninjured. While companies knocked down the fire, traffic was backed up for miles on the eastbound side of the Mass Pike. Contributing to the heavy traffic was a brush fire on the same side of the highway, approximately a mile west of this incident. The vehicle was a total loss and was towed from the scene.
