On June 19, FDNY firemen arrived within three minutes of being called to a three-alarm fire at a church on Bushwick Avenue.
Heavy fire conditions were observed by firefighters, and within 20 minutes, the situation escalated to a third alarm, requiring 63 units and 192 fire and EMS personnel to respond to the scene. While preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring structures, crews tried to put out any lingering pockets of flames.
There were no reported injuries or unusual operational difficulties, and it was thought that the church was empty at the time of the incident. The FDNY Fire Marshals are still looking into the cause.
