Groton, CT. — June 19 — After responding to a car fire on Interstate 95, firefighters from Poquonnock Bridge Professional Firefighters Local 2704 swiftly contained the situation. Until the car was removed and traffic conditions improved, crews secured the area, looked for potential dangers, and stayed on the highway.


There were no reports of further fire spread. One of the busiest roads in the department's response region is Interstate 95, necessitating coordinated efforts to safeguard drivers and rescuers. The department, which was headquartered at 373 Long Hill Road, continues to offer emergency medical care, fire suppression, rescue, and hazardous materials response in Groton and the surrounding areas.
