On July 7th, at 10:13 p.m. on Mount Pleasant Firefighters were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash at Blue Star Highway (US 90) and Howell Road. Upon arrival, personnel found a two-vehicle crash at the intersection with one vehicle with extensive damage to the left rear and side airbag deployment, the other was a pickup truck that was towing a boat and the truck had moderate front end damage.
Firefighters were able to quickly assess the scene and determine that the occupant(s) of the passenger vehicle had fled the scene, and the occupants of the pickup were assessed by Gadsden County EMS, but not transported.
The pickup was traveling east on Blue Star Highway after a good day of fishing on Lake Seminole. As the truck approached the intersection the passenger vehicle pulled out in front of the pickup causing the crash. The driver of the passenger vehicle fled the scene. Firefighters assisted with cleaning the debris off the roadway and with traffic on the curve.
