Pittsburgh, PA - Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid units were dispatched to a reported residential porch fire within the first-due area. Chief 191 and a captain from Company 260 arrived to find light smoke showing from the porch area.

Truck companies 260 and 262, along with Engine 149, conducted a thorough check for fire extension, while Engine 259 advanced a 1.75-inch attack line to extinguish remaining hot spots. The homeowner had successfully knocked down the bulk of the fire prior to the fire department’s arrival, significantly limiting damage.

The scene was brought under control without further extension into the structure. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
