Stone Harbor, N.J. — June 21 — Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1 firefighters responded to a structure fire at 242 6th Street in Avalon as part of a mutual aid assignment to support the Avalon Fire Department. After more resources were needed, Quint 13 and Engine 13 were sent out. In order to bolster fire suppression efforts and help contain the situation, Stone Harbor personnel collaborated with Avalon firefighters.
By enabling adjacent agencies to share staff and equipment during major emergencies, the reaction illustrated the need of mutual help alliances. The two agencies' coordinated efforts ensured that sufficient resources were available throughout the incident and maintained an efficient response.
