This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

White Oak, PA. — June 17 — While Glassport firefighters worked at a commercial structure fire in their response area, the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department Station 299, 1130 California Ave., offered standby support for the Borough of Glassport. Until local units returned, White Oak crews were on hand to respond to emergency calls and keep the town safe from fire.

While resources were allocated to the ongoing situation, the assignment guaranteed continuous emergency services. Standby coverage is a critical feature of the regional mutual aid system, allowing neighboring departments to support one another during large events while preserving ready for future calls throughout their respective response regions.
