Ronkonkoma, N.Y. – On Sunday May 26, 2024 at about 2:32 PM the Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a vehicle crash at the Speedway Located at 440 Portion Rd.  Multiple chiefs responded to the scene dispatch advised they had a report of a vehicle Vs. Building. Rescue 8 {5-24-8} and ambulance and fire police also responded into the scene. 

On arrival fire personnel found that the vehicle had hit the building and some items in front of the store. It appeared also that a wood column had fallen in the crash on to the sidewalk. Firefighters inspected the vehicle and ensured no fluids were leaking and no other hazards were present. In addition, they checked the structural damage.  The driver of the vehicle did not appear to be injured by the impact and all FD took up within about 20 minutes and turned the scene over to Suffolk County Police.
