Quick Action Limits Damage in Residential Grease Fire

Caribou, ME - Caribou Fire & Ambulance Department responded to a reported grease fire at a residence on Vickers Drive, arriving to find heavy smoke throughout the single-story home.

A bystander had already extinguished most of the fire using a portable fire extinguisher prior to crews’ arrival. Firefighters conducted overhaul operations, opening walls and ceilings in the kitchen to locate and eliminate remaining hot spots.

All occupants safely evacuated, and a family pet was located unharmed. The fire originated from cooking on the stove, with damage contained to the kitchen area.
