Clinton Firefighters Control Commercial Fire at Beach Donut

The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire at Beach Donut, which is situated at 344 East Main Street, on May 30.
According to officials, when firemen arrived, they discovered that a one-story business structure with a residential unit connected had a lot of smoke and fire in the attic. While firemen used several hoselines to contain the fire, police officers securely evacuated the residents of the residence. Clinton EMS took one individual to a nearby hospital for assessment. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents and businesses.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Clinton Fire Marshal's Office with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. Department officials also thanked mutual aid partners from Westbrook Fire Department, Madison Hose Company No. 1, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company, Old Saybrook Fire Department, Guilford Fire Department, Essex Fire Engine Company No. 1, North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, the Clinton Police Department, Clinton EMS, Middlesex Hospital Paramedics, the Clinton Building Official, and the Connecticut River Area Health District for their assistance.
