NEWBURGH, NY - Cronomer Valley Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Centurion Court, located off of Fostertown Road, at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st.
Heavy fire and smoke was showing from the home on arrival, and Command immediately requested a second alarm.
Mutual Aid requested from several Orange and Ulster County fire departments included Good-Will FD 1 Engine, Orange Lake FD Tanker, Plattekill FD Tanker/Fire Police, Middle Hope FD 1 Engine, Air Guard FD Tanker, Coldenham Fire - FAST/2 Tankers, Wallkill FD Tanker, Walden FD Tanker, Winona Lake FD 1 Engine, Modena FD Rescue/Tanker, Marlboro FD 1 Engine, Cornwall FD Tanker, New Windsor FD 1 Engine standby, and Good Will for regional coverage.
Three residents evacuated the home and were evaluated by Town of Newburgh EMS, but refused medical treatment.
Tankers were brought to the scene, and a portable tank was set up to supply water to the dead-end street. Firefighters used multiple handlines to battle the fire, while the Cronomer Valley ladder truck poured water onto the structure.
Central Hudson was called to shut off power to the residence. Town of Newburgh EMS and Town of Newburgh Police responded to the scene. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 32-12 and Ulster County Deputy Fire Coordinator 56-4 were on scene, and the Town of Newburgh Fire Inspector was also requested to the scene.
The home was destroyed, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
