Electrical Fault Triggers Small Fire in Bedford Commercial Building
Bedford, NH - Firefighters responded to an electrical odor investigation at a South River Road property that was upgraded to a “smoke in the building” response after light smoke and odor were detected.
Crews arrived to find partial evacuation underway and light smoke conditions within the building. Further investigation revealed a fire within rooftop unit #4, which was quickly extinguished. The unit was shut down to prevent further hazard.
Additional crews assisted with evacuations of the affected and adjacent units while utilities confirmed an electrical issue involving downed service legs, which were subsequently reenergized. Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke and odors from the building.
The fire alarm system was reset, and property owners were advised to have HVAC technicians inspect the affected equipment. No injuries were reported.
