This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

DEMAREST, NJ - Firefighters responded to a reported fire around 4:20 A.M. on June 22nd to 38 Evergreen Pl. for a reported fire on the first floor.

First arriving Chief McLoughlin arrived on scene to find heavy fire venting from the front of the home and transmitted a second-alarm. Engine 2 arrived first and secured their own water supply as they stretched two lines into the home. An aggressive interior attack was able to knock back most of the heavy fire.

Haworth and Closter aerials laddered the roof as additional mutual aid companies assisted in ventilation and primary searches. A third line was stretched and put into operation as crews continued to open up for hot spots and check for further extension.

The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes and placed under control in under one hour. Mutual aid from Haworth, Closter, Dumont, Tenafly, Norwood, Alpine and Harrington Park assisted at the scene. One minor injury was reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
