Major Structure Fire in Chautauqua Displaces Family; Mutual Aid Crews Battle Large Blaze
Chautauqua, NY - Chautauqua Fire Department assisted North Lake Fire Department on a mutual aid response to a structure fire on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua involving a residence and a nearby camper.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions. Despite firefighting efforts, the residence was declared a total loss. All occupants were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.
Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, suppression operations relied on an extensive tanker shuttle system with 12 tankers continuously supplying water to the scene. Chautauqua Fire Department responded with Tanker 211 and engine companies to support fireground operations.
The fire resulted in the displacement of a family with 11 children who lost their home and belongings.
