On June 9, 2019, the Cape May Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church suffered a devastating fire when a car struck a utlity pole that hit the church causing it to catch on fire. The pole then hit the church which sparked a fire destroying its steeple. Five years later the church continues its restoration.
