Double Fatal House Fire in Hegins

HEGINS, PA - A woman named Tawnya Bowman, 44-years-old, and her son Daniel, 4-years-old, lost their lives in a tragic fire that occurred on May 22nd at 951 East Main Street. The County's 911 Center received a call around 10:00 A.M. reporting a fire at the location with possible entrapment. Hegins Valley Fire and Rescue Command was first on the scene and reported a fully involved dwelling. A working fire was dispatched, along with eventual mutual aid from Dauphin County. Two grandparents and an uncle were able to get out of the dwelling safely. Companies remained on scene into the afternoon chasing hot spots. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
