New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen's Association Memorial

The names of three Bergen County volunteer firefighters, who died in the line-of-duty in 2022, were cited with their names added to the monument in Memorial Plaza.

MAHWAH, NJ - Firefighters, families and friends gathered at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute on the afternoon of May 21st to pay respect to those volunteer firefighters that passed away in 2022 from the fire departments in Bergen County and Rockland County, N.Y. This year, three Bergen County firefighters were remembered for giving their lives in the line of duty. Their names are listed in the memorial plaza.
Association President Roy De Young, of the Maywood Fire Department, and Law and Public Safety Institute Director Richard Blohm welcomed guests to the facility. Memorial certificates were presented to the families and fire officials of their respective departments. Flowers were provided by the association for placement on the Memorial Plaza.
The three volunteer firefighters cited for their ultimate sacrifice serving others were: Kevin G. May, Westwood Fire Department; Alex K. Moss, Upper Saddle River Fire Department; and Basil J. Pizzuto, Saddle Brook Fire Department.
