LODI, NJ - On May 19th at 5:02 P.M., Lodi Police requested the Lodi Fire Department to the area of Mercer Street and Arnot Street for smoke coming from a building. Assistant Chief Garzon arrived and reported smoke coming from the building with no visible fire. Engine 615 and Ladder 613 arrived on scene, followed by Engine 612 and Engine 614. The Chief advised all units responding that there were clothes on fire in a dryer. Engine 615's crew stretched a booster line while the crews of Ladder 613, Engine 614 and Engine 612 helped with salvage, overhaul and ventilation. It took five fans to vent the building due to high ceilings. No injuries were reported, and the cause is currently under investigation by the Lodi Fire Prevention Bureau.
