Good Stop at Shirley House Fire.

Shirley N.Y. – On April 18th 2022 Just before 3:30 PM the Mastic Fire Department activated for a report of a house fire on William Floyd Parkway near Tudor Rd. Mastic Beach FD was also activated for 1 Engine to the scene on the mutual aid plan.
Chief of Department Rudy Sunderman was the first to respond and received updated the caller was reported the deck was on fire and extending to the house. On Arrival Chief Sunderman found active fire in the rear of the house extending up the rear wall and beginning to extend into the home. Mastic Engine 5-12-1 was the first due engine to arrive on scene followed right behind by Mastic beach Engine 3. The crews quickly stretched a line off of Mastic Engine 1 to the rear of the home interior crews also went into the home with some equipment and suppressed what they needed to inside the home as well as made sure that all occupants were out of the home.
Mastic Rescue 5-12-10A was also on scene to assist. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire. No injuries were reported but Mastic Ambulance 5-37-16 & 19 were also on scene along with chiefs 5-37-30 & 31 for support and incase EMS was needed. Mastic and Mastic Beach FD Fire Police assisted with traffic control around the scene. The scene was turned over to Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s who were on scene as well.
