Yaphank NY: on the afternoon of April 22 2014 yapahnk fd was toned out for a brush fire at Whispering Pines right off of William Floyd parkway. Yaphank chiefs arrived on the scene to find that they had a brush fire in the road and would need stump jumpers to get to it to put.
Yaphank Fd chiefs set up command and started to requested more stump jumpers.
Yaphank responded with a tanker and stump jumper and engine. firecom started to activated the following company for stump jumper, Ridge fd Brookhaven fd ,middle island fd,medford for engine to stand by yapahnk main house.
after firefighters made there way in they had found that there was about 6-8 aces burning so they radioed back to the command post to ask for more help.
Rocky point fd and mastic fd was also requested for stump jumper.
Middle island sent there second brush truck to the scene.
Mastic beach fd and hagermand fd also requested to the scene.
After a major attack on the fire all they had to was hit hot spots and mop up. The fire was placed under control about hrs after the call came into 911.
