On April 18th, Wrights Corner's Volunteers Rapid Response Engine, under the direction of 1st Assistant Chief Ryan Dickinson, rolled to the report of flames showing from the engine compartment of a full-size car. The vehicle was on the side of the road on Route 104 East by Murphy Road with heavy flames and smoke showing.
The attack crew that was also manned by past Chief Timothy William, Jr. attacked the fire head-on. Second Assistant Chief Wallace Linderman and Pump Operator Lowell Dickinson kept a close eye on the team and had a safety second line ready to go in case things turned for the worse. The team hit the fire that was screaming from underneath the inside compartment and then made quick work of the heavy flames that had already ate through the roof of the hood of the engine.
The heavy smoke and the chance of a gas explosion had Route 104 East shut down as the fire was contained. 1st Assistant Chief Ryan Dickinson attacked some hot spots before the fire was called under control. Second Assistant Chief Wallace Linderman and Fire Police stayed on scene to keep the scene safe as Niagara County Orgin and Cause examined the scene. There were no injuries reported, and the Niagara County Sheriff Department handled the report.
