Car Fire Handled in Lindenhurst

LINDENHURST, NY - At approximately 11:44 P.M. on April 12th, the Lindenhurst Fire Department was alerted for an auto fire in the Zone 1 area at the intersection of South 4th Street and Second Avenue. Upon the arrival of Chief of Department David Collins (1-6-30) he had a well involved auto fire. When Engine 1-6-6 arrived they gained a supply from the hydrant. The crew then proceeded to stretch one line into operation to knock the blaze. With reports of no occupants in the vehicle, Suffolk County Police Canine was called in for a victim/perp search. The auto's sole occupant (the driver) surrendered to the police. Units operated under Chief of Lindenhurst Fire Department David Collins (1-6-30). There were no reported injuries.
