Somerset, Ma. During the week of April 7th through 11th the utility company was doing routine maintenance on a natural gas pipeline that required the ignition of excess gas. This procedure resulted in 50 foot high flames shooting skyward. This flare off of gas prompted dozens of 911 calls to Somerset's Emergency Communication Center as well across the river in Fall River who dispatched a still alarm response to the waterfront for an investigation of heavy fire.
